Microsoft Tech·Ed 2006
No more queues
Gone are the days of extensive
queues and slow confusing conference delegate registration.
Info Salons have now introduced a fast and efficient way of
registering thousands of delegates in minimal time with little
fuss. Welcome to Tech·Ed 2006.
Organised by Jack Morton
Worldwide, on behalf of Microsoft, Tech·Ed 2006 took place at
the Sydney Convention Centre on Darling Harbour and ran from
the 22nd-25th August. It involved 3 consecutive days of
informative IT sessions, the welcome party, and a 70 stand
exhibition showcasing the latest developments in Microsoft and
partners products and services. With over 2500 delegates
attending it was the first conference of its size to use the
fully automated e-badge registration system, with a barcode
confirmation e-mail sent to every delegate that
registered.
The registration process used
the latest e-badge scanning equipment and 8 e-badge terminals;
delegate registration had never been easier. The delegates
would simply bring their confirmation barcode, generated and
emailed just before the event, to the e-badge terminal, have
their barcode scanned by our friendly Info Salons team and all
the relevant tickets would be instantly printed for that
delegate. No queues. No waiting. The tickets for the welcome
reception, satchels and t-shirt collection were all printed at
the same time as registration badges. Delegate badges included
a 1D barcode which was scanned upon entry to sessions allowing
attendance to be recorded for every individual session
including the welcome party.
Registration Manager Stuart
Frank and Executive Producer Simone Hulse, both from Jack
Morton Worldwide, commented on the efficiency of the
registration process used at Microsoft Tech·Ed:
“The registration process
was extremely effective thanks to Info Salons’ experience and
expertise providing a streamlined customer experience for
Microsoft Tech·Ed attendees from their initial online
registration, through to pre-event communication, and onsite
utilising Info Salons e-badge terminals and barcode room entry
scanners. Minimal, if any, delays were experienced by
delegates upon arrival at the convention centre, despite
almost 2000 delegates being registered in a 3 hour
period”.
Info Salons technology stood up
to the sheer volume of delegates attending Microsoft Tech·Ed.
Stuart Frank noted “Attendees at events of a similar scale
utilising conventional registration methods could expect to
face delays of up to 30 minutes to register. By utilising the
Info Salons e-badge terminals the pitfalls of manually
retrieving name badges are removed resulting in a complete
registration in seconds rather than minutes”.
The success of the registration
process at Microsoft Tech·Ed can be attributed to several key
factors.
“Pre event planning in
consultation with Info Salons ensured that all eventualities
were accounted for. Info Salons advice was invaluable in
ensuring the efficient operation of the onsite registration
operations. The pre-event and onsite support of Info Salons
was critical to the success of the registration solution
designed and implemented by Info Salons.” said Stuart.
Delegates from Microsoft Tech·Ed
also commented on the efficiency of the e-badge
system:
“The entire
process was very quick and efficient; I didn’t have to wait in
line which makes a nice change.” Dave Bartlett—AGS
“I got all
of my coupons in one hit, I thought it was really quick and I
didn’t have to stand in any queues. The collection was
excellent.” Murty
Illa—Open Assist
The response to the e-badge
registration process at Microsoft Tech·Ed has been extremely
positive. Info Salons will continue to provide effective,
efficient solutions to our Clients and assist in the growth
and success of your events.
