Changing face of jewellery
In another first the Australian Jewellery
Fair has led shows around the world by successfully
introducing a new unique photo identification name badge.
Info Salons Australia, at the request of
organiser Expertise Events, has implemented a new plastic name
badge complete with photo identification for all buyers
attending the event. The new Buyer Identification Card will be
will be valid for 3 years once the buyer’s accreditation has
been approved.
Expertise Events CEO, Gary Fitz-Roy said,
“The very nature of the event requires stringent security with
entry through x-ray machines and metal detectors. The Fair is
also under 24 hour surveillance and the new photo card has a
number of benefits from ensuring the right person has the
badge, quicker entry onto the floor and a more efficient
checking system.”
Pre-registrations are processed directly by
Expertise Events, using the Info Online customised database
management system. Their show badges are then sent directly to
pre-registered buyers by Info Salons. New buyers who register
onsite pay $25 along with producing the appropriate
accreditation.
Each buyer then brings their show badge to
the photo ID booths, located at the entrance to the
exhibition. A series of special web-based cameras focus on the
buyer’s face, a photo is taken and their plastic Buyer
Identification Card is produced in under a minute. The
software application immediately connects the photo to the
buyer record.
“This process is unique for a number of
reasons,” says Ian Bentley, Info Salons Business Development
Manager, integral in developing this application especially
for the Jewellery shows.
“Info Salons has successfully integrated
photo capture with the registration process thus making large
volume photo identification production onsite at an event
possible.”
“Buyer records can also be viewed with
their photo displayed on screen from anywhere in the world
using the web browser application via a secure password.” said
Ian.
“And the photo image is automatically saved
in the database with the record rather than as a separate
file. This is significant, as the record and the photo appear
on the screen simultaneously.”
Gary said, “The new Buyer Identification
Cards are a glimpse into the future as the way security and
risk management is heading, more and more exhibitions will
utilise this system. We found buyers loved the thought of
receiving the new card and it created interest in being
registered. This process makes for a more secure and
quicker experience for buyers to enter the event once they are
issued with the new card. The system was very fast and
efficient.” Buyer Identification
Cards were produced at the Gold Coast Fair and another 6,000
plus are expected to be created at the Sydney JAA Australian
Jewellery Fair to be held at the Sydney Exhibition Centre,
Darling Harbour on August 20 – 22, 2006.
