Breaking the language barrier

The world’s leading trade show management and supplier companies were in Beijing earlier this year for the first international forum in China for the exhibition industry – CEFCO 2005.

Info Salons’ Jo-Anne Kelleway was invited to address this distinguished audience on developments in exhibition registration, follow-up and post show communications – all areas showing rapid changes in technology at present.

This was certainly an auspicious event for organisers and delegates alike, with UFI, IAEM and SISO, the global associations for the exhibition industry, putting their weight behind this historic opening of dialogue between China and the global exhibition community.

Among the benefits revealed at the forum is the plan to launch the online version of Info Salons’ registration system into China in much same way that the new Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre is already utilising.

“We’ve developed the application in Simplified and Traditional versions of the Chinese language, which perfectly mirror the programs we run in English for all our clients. A simple click through the home page takes the user to all the information in the appropriate language” said Jo-Anne.

“With trade in products and services between Australia and China continuing to skyrocket, this development of Chinese language capability has enormous potential benefits to importers and exporters on both sides of the equation. We’re also looking to provide French, German and Spanish versions of our registration system in the future.”

Among the innovations that we’re constantly fine-tuning are the tracking reports that provide the trade show organiser with up-to-date information on the progress of their show registrations.

We also help exhibitors who rent our trackers by providing lead follow up services online to ensure they get maximum benefit from their participation in the show. Such is the level of sophistication in this area that an exhibitor based in another country can be remotely accessing leads within seconds of the information being gathered on the trade show floor through our online tracker services.

We’re constantly working to perfect our systems and the feedback from our clients is something we take very seriously.

AIME proves a winner

While visitor numbers held steady, AIME 2005, the international trade show for the events industry, was highly successful for the quality of its buyers attending this year.

Info Salons was once again responsible for the registration and our Client Manager, Damien Sydney, reported smooth sailing throughout the show. The name badges at AIME have a barcode for tracking purposes as well as all the different functions and seminars that the delegate has opted to attend. This means the staff controlling access to events don’t have to consult attendance records and can tell at a glance if someone is eligible to enter.

AIME Exhibition Manager, Rosemarie Sama of Reed Exhibitions, said the partnership with Info Salons was lasting and much valued.

"We have great consistency of service from the team at Info Salons. Most of them have worked on this show before and their experience and professionalism shows. The queues at registration were minimal and any issues were sorted out in no time."

Not only are we involved with the registration for AIME each year, we also exhibit at the show. Stand Manager and Sales and Marketing Assistant, Dimity Ferguson says, "It’s one of the few times of the year I can network with current clients and also meet with potential new ones from around the world using the appointment scheduler for AIME Pre-scheduled Appointments. It’s also a great opportunity to get together with other suppliers all in one place."
