Info Salons leads the way with their Green Initiatives
Info Salons is “Going Green” to ensure a brighter future for the Australian Exhibition and Events Industry. The “green” initiative will endeavor to reduce Info Salons’ impact on the surrounding environment by implementing sustainable practices at every step of our internal operations.
“Info Salons recognises the importance of sustainable practices on the environment. As an industry leader we hope our “Green” initiative is recoginsed and adopted by both our clients and suppliers to ensure a sustainable future for all involved in the Industry” – Jo-Anne Kelleway, CEO.
“The key to implementing change and environmental awareness internally is to alter the culture of our team and reinforce the importance of the environment. We currently educate our team about the positive outcomes of small changes in the workplace.
In the future we hope to source biodegradable holders and lanyards to offer clients for our 2008 shows. Info Salons have already created a new badge which negates the need for a plastic holder.
Handy Hints to “Green” your next show:
- Offer exhibitors instruction information on the Web instead of printed manuals
- Reuse plastic badge holders and lanyards
- Reduce marketing on paper by opting for electronic communication such as e-mails & SMS’s
- Reduce handouts and go for paperless educational sessions by offering sessions on USB’s or on the websites post show
- Replace paper session evaluations with electronic surveys
- Print non date specific promotional products such as event satchels, notebooks, etc so they can be used in following years
- Replace bottled water with water stations and paper cups constructed from recycled paper
- Turn off computers and lighting once a show has finished
- Get exhibitors involved by asking them to bring fewer materials for distribution instead email information to visitors after the show.
Small changes can heavily reduce our impact on the environment and by working together we can ensure a brighter greener future for all involved in the Exhibition & Events Industry.
